Year 1 / 2 Fundamentals Festival at FCC - Tuesday 28th January 2025
On Wednesday 29th January, a group of children from Year 1 and 2 travelled to FCC to take part in a sports skills festival. Here are some of their thoughts on the morning:
I had fun, we played games, we had a parachute where we learnt different games to play with it. At the end we got stickers and we got sweets.
I had a good time we balanced beanbags on our heads, played tick tack toe with hoops and we had sweets.

All the children thoroughly enjoyed the morning and were a credit to the school. Well done to all of them and a big thank you to Mrs Wheeler and Ms Skeet for taking them.
Y 3 /4 Fundamentals Festival at FCC - Wednesday 4th December 2024
Our Trip to FCC
Some Year 3s and some Year 4s went on a coach to FCC to do some sport games with people from different schools. It was very fun. We supported everyone in their sport races to do their best. It doesn’t really matter if you win or not because it’s all about having fun.
There were different sections, we had to go around clockwise in our groups. We played a survival game where you were a person or a shark and we had to jump on people if we heard ‘shark attack’. There became more sharks and less islands so it became more tricky. We played many throwing game sand running games.
There was one game that was an obstacle course. There was a ladder with pretend lasers which you had to not touch. It was very fun. There were also beanbag throwing games where you had to throw a bean bag into three hoops, but it started to get tricky because the hoops were further away. There were different sections, we had to go around clockwise in our groups.
We had a really fun day.

Y5 / 6 Tag Rugby Festival - Wednesday 20th November
On Wednesday 20th November, some children in Year 5 and 6 went to a Tag Rugby festival at FCC along with a few other schools. We were split into 2 groups (A and B) and we set off to do a warm up. After our warm up, the director called us over to play our first match. Thankfully, we won and then proceed to win our next match! Sadly, our third match didn't have the same success and we lost by quite a big score. Our final match was just for training but we were still happy that we won. Overall, we have a fun time and managed to win most of our matches.

Vale Cross Country Finals - 13th November 2024
On Wednesday this week, our Year ¾ and Year 5/6 boys' teams represented The Cambrian Learning Trust at the Cross Country Vale Finals held at Tilsley Park. The courses are tough and all the boys performed brilliantly well. Our Year ¾ boys were outstanding and finished joint first! They now qualify for the County Finals to be held in March - an amazing achievement. Jacob was the stand out individual performance, finishing 3rd place overall in a very competitive field. All the boys represented the school and the Trust incredibly well and we are very proud of all of them - well done boys!
On Wednesday 2 October, a group of children represented John Blandy at the cross country event at Buscot Park. The run is pretty tough but all the children did brilliantly well, finishing the course with some great performances.
Our Year 5/6 boys won their event and our Y3/4 boys team finished second, both teams now qualifying for the Vale finals at Tilsley Park in November.
There were also some outstanding individual performances. The children represented the school well, consistently showing our school values throughout the morning - well done to everyone who took part!
