As part of the National Curriculum requirements, in the autumn term, we take our Year 5/6 children swimming at St Hughs. We use our Sports Premium money for top up lessons for Year 6 pupils, to ensure that they leave primary school being able to swim the required standard.
The pool is a beautiful new pool and the children always come back energised and enthused!
On Wednesday 3rd July, some of our Year 6 children along with Harrison from Year 4, competed in the Quadkids Final over at Tilsley Park. Our Year 6 girls team consisting of Tilly, Ava, Enny, Ellie and Arabella and our Year 6 boys team of Freddie, William, Reuben, Allyus and Jackson, had qualified for the final by winning our local Quadkids events.
The children all performed brilliantly, with our Year 6 team finishing in fourth place overall. There were also some outstanding individual performances, with Harrison finishing second overall in his age group and Allyus finishing third in the Year 6 boys category. Well done to everyone for representing the school so well and a big thank you to the staff (Mrs King and Mrs Kuzmina) and parents for making the event possible for the children.
On Monday 15th June, teams from our Year 6 and Year ¾ classes competed at the Quadkids event at FCC. The event involves various competitive activities including, sprint, long distance, throwing and long jump.

Well done everyone! Our Year 6 teams and the individuals mentioned all progress to the Vale Quadkids final which will be held at Tilsley Park on 3 July.
On 17th November, 14 children from Year 5 and Year 6 went to FCC to play tag rugby. When we got there, we got split up into two teams. Year 5 were the red team and Year 6 were the blue team. We did some training for our matches and then when the airhorn blew, it was time to play our first match. Both Year 5 and 6 played against Longworth school first. We played 4 games in total each and then it was time to go back to school on the coach. We all had a great time!

Quadkids 2023
Year 4 and Year 6 took part in this years Quadkids. They all took part in 4 events: Standing long jump, vortex howler throwing event, sprint and long distance run. They all did brilliantly and showed such team work, cheering each other on.
Our Year 4 children came 4th overall and our Year 6 team came 2nd place! Two children received awards for their fantastic overall effort- Juno and George!
Well done to all of the children who took part. You represented the school brilliantly!
On Tuesday 21st March, the whole of Year 2 went to a cricket festival at FCC in the morning. The weather held out for us so we were able to spend a couple of hours outside learning cricket skills. We were taught how to bat and bowl correctly as well as how to field and then we played a game of Caterpillar Cricket at the end! The children absolutely loved the experience and this was apparent through their involvement, enthusiasm and demonstration of good teamwork – an essential part of cricket. We all returned ready for lunch, having worked up an appetite learning all these new skills. We’d like to thank the parent helpers who gave up their time to join us for the morning. Maybe we have some budding young future cricketers in our midst?!
