The Teaching of Phonics is paramount in early reading and writing and we teach systematic, carefully planned tailored sessions every day in Oak, Elm and Horse Chestnut classes.

The children are grouped by ability, using the Six Phases within Letters and Sounds. Teachers also use the actions from Jolly Phonics to aid early phoneme/grapheme development.

Children in KS2 also receive specific phonics sessions where necessary, and generalised phonic sessions through spelling teaching each week.

The children's early reading is supported by the 'Oxford Reading Tree' books.
