Art – Frescos
In art this term, we have been learning about Roman frescos and focusing particularly on the use of birds. We have learnt how to draw birds using a block drawing technique and spent time looking at how details are added to block drawings through both drawing and painting.
For our final pieces, we painted on a mix of cornflour and water, to make it as similar to wet plaster (which was used for original Roman frescos) as possible.
We found it really tricky to paint on the wet surface and had to be very careful not to smudge our work or add too much extra water, but we all showed great resilience!
Here are some of our final pieces:

Science Fair investigations 2026
This year, the Trust's overall theme for our science fair investigations was "Time", with John Blandy's question being "How does time affect change?". Using this theme and question, we worked in pairs to carry out various time related investigations including:
- How do different liquids affect coins over time?
- How do additives affect the wilting time of flowers?
- How does the length of a physical activity affect pulse rate?
- How quickly does a teddy fall from different heights?
We took time to carefully plan our investigations and recorded our results in tables and on graphs. We then created posters showcasing each part of our investigation and presented these to the class. Some of us even presented to the rest of the school at the in-school final!
Here are some of us with our posters:
