  • Headteacher’s Welcome

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our John Blandy Primary School website, and hope that you will enjoy finding out about the wonderful things our village school has to offer your child.

John Blandy is a friendly and nurturing school, where we ensure that every child knows that they belong. We have high expectations of both learning and behaviour. The children are encouraged to believe in themselves and that of others. We strive for brilliance in everything the children do.

Our school vision: Belong. Believe. Brilliant. Together We Thrive. is at the heart of our school community and is lived and breathed in our daily life.

We are a values-based school, with our eight core values underpinning our school vision.

Our curriculum is carefully planned and based around high-quality, engaging and challenging texts which link to different subjects, inspiring our children in their learning. We bring learning to life through enrichment activities such as WOW days, trips, residentials, visitors and experience days, enabling children to become fully immersed in their learning. We know that happy children learn, and our dedicated staff use their expertise and experience to both challenge and support our pupils both within, and outside of the classroom, ensuring that each child reaches their full potential.

Our links to the other schools within our Trust, add to the rich environment we offer our children including sporting opportunities and STEM activities which prove to be a great success amongst our children. Our strong and dedicated Governing Committee fully supports the school in providing the best possible opportunities for all.

    History of our school

John Blandy was the Sheriff of Berkshire. Our school is named after him as when he died in 1736, he left £1200 to set up a school to teach boys the art of Navigation.

Although we have moved site, and it is nearly 300 years since the original school was created, we are all still explorers- finding things out, trying new skills and navigating our way through a vast ocean of experiences.

Our school is full of dedicated, enthusiastic people who help our children develop and succeed through a rich skills-based curriculum. The children are just like explorers- encouraged to take risks, work together in teams and learn something new each day!

I would encourage you to come and visit our wonderful school and see for yourself what a fabulous place it is to learn!

    Best wishes,
    Mrs Suzanne Elliott
