Term 1

In term 1 we enjoyed exploring our new classroom and outdoor area, we thankfully had some beautiful autumn sunshine so we could make towers, scoot around the playground and explore rolling tyres down the hill. 

     

In term 1, we began by learning about homes and habitats by looking at the story of the Tiger who came to tea. We made some yummy jam sandwiches to share with the tiger!

 

 

We then looked at more zoo animals after reading the story of Dear zoo and discussed why animals might live in a zoo.

We then looked at nocturnal animals using the story of Owl babies. Next term we have an exciting visit from some Owls....look out for those pictures!

 

Term 2 

We had some special visitors come and see us in the school hall. A huge thank you to the Millets Farm Falconry team for bringing the gorgeous owls to visit us. We loved learning about them and watching them move around our school hall. 

  

Term 2 also saw the start of our forest school sessions with Mrs Nichols. We started by getting to know our site and making a new fire circle using the logs. It was heavy work but we worked well as a team to make a big circle. We then made some pine cone fires by wrapping yarn around a pine cone. 

       

                                        

In our next session, we made bird feeders using pipe cleaners and cheerios to not only feed the birds but bring some colour to our Forest School site. We worked really hard on our hand eye coordination and fine motor skills. 

     

   

                                      

In class, we have been busy learning all our new sounds and beginning to read and write CVC words. We have enjoyed exploring the letter shapes in many ways including marble run letters, writing them in flour and glitter as well as using play dough to make the letters!
