On Wednesday, the Upper Juniors were visited by two magistrates from Oxford. They taught us all about the court system and the difference between a magistrate and a Judge. We also found out about the youth court which deals with cases children over the age of 10 who have been accused of a crime. If they were found guilty, it would be extremely hard for them to travel to other countries because they would then have a criminal record. We then took part in a mock case and they played the roles of all the participants in a real case and then had to decide whether the defendant was guilty or not guilty – it was quite tricky! We had a really interesting and enjoyable morning.
