Borrow the Moon
Linking to our learning about Earth and Space in science, we were extremely lucky to have the opportunity to hold and explore fragments of the Moon and meteorite samples collected during NASA's Apollo missions, thanks to resources from the Borrow the Moon programme. Alongside this, we used Google Earth to explore the Moon’s surface and investigate Apollo landing sites. We also learnt more about the Space Race between the United States and the Soviet Union. Thank you to Mrs Wilson for arranging this wonderful experience for us!
End of SATS week celebration
Following our final paper, we marked the end of SATs week with a well-deserved celebration to recognise all the children’s hard work and perseverance.
The children enjoyed sweets and fizzy drinks, and later, after lunch, were delighted with ice creams kindly provided by the Friends of John Blandy. We would like to extend our sincere thanks for their generosity — the ice creams were very much appreciated by all!
Year 6 Junior Citizens
On Wednesday 29th April, Year 6 visited Junior Citizens at Oxford Fire Station. The children were split into eight groups and rotated around eight different rooms, each led by professionals from a variety of services, including the Police, Fire and Rescue Service, Great Western Railway and Trading Standards. Through these interactive sessions, the children learnt about safety, responsibility and how to handle and get help in real-life situations. The visit was both informative and engaging, and the children represented the school very well.
